Why do you carry unnecessary burdens?

As you know, I’m preparing for Kokoro Seal Fit later this year, so I’m making my training match the intensity of the program.

I train with a 20lb vest and am making my way to 30lbs to counter the weight that I’ve been losing while working out.

The crazy thing is that after I take the vest off, I feel light as a feather. I purposely put that weight on to make me stronger, but in real life, I see so many people overburden themselves with unnecessary weight, both literally and figuratively.

Why?

Because they’re addicted to their story of victimhood. They think that by blaming someone else and shifting their responsibility, they are entitled to remaining unhappy.

People love putting on their weighted vest of a story, but the question is:

What is it in you that craves holding onto that story?

When you carry unnecessary burdens of the past, guess what happens? It allows you to subtlety shift responsibility. It gives us a reason to play small and not strive for greatness.

GET RID OF THE VEST. TAKE IT OFF.

Move forward powerfully so that you can create results that matter to you.

Ask yourself:

* What is it in me that craves holding onto a story of victimhood?

* What weighted vests (stories) are holding me back?

* How can I get rid of a figurative vest today?

Unless you like holding onto your past and the stories continue to prevent you from being fulfilled, take responsibility for your life.
